Imagine being the on-site ranger during the winter!
Pat...when I did the Bodie night photography workshop I talked at length with the young girl who was the on site Park Aide. She lived in Bodie throughout the winter of 2016-17, until March 2017...and was back again in Sept. Her last stint there was longer because of the earthquake in Dec '16. She also said it was just her and the Maintenance guy. Two people...and that's it...no civilization for miles...and no roads to get out in the snow! (They can snowmobile or snow cat out) For months at a time, in the worst winter of California!!! She said there were snow drifts 12 feet high! Can you even imagine???
Brrr! The couple in the radio interview, pretty much said the same thing about the winters there. I can't even imagine it! Even harder to image, is being there during the winters over a hundred years ago!
