NO, it isn't for real but probably was many years ago. It was a sign hanging at a restaurant.

HA! On boy...when I was a child grewing up in Texas, I remember spending a few days pickin'cotten. My hands were raw at the end of that nightmare.

Great historical shot
Here in North Carolina you might find that same sign. But in my youth, you'd have substituted "tobacco" for "cotton". Talk about nasty, sticky, sweaty, awful work... It was heinous.
